ARE YOU A RUNNER? ChiRunning has helped thousands in reducing and preventing injuries, while decreasing recovery time. Runners of all ages and levels have improved their efficiency and performance, and now find their running to be pain-free, easier and more enjoyable.

ARE YOU A WALKER? You will learn to blend walking with the movement principles of T’ai Chi to create balance and strength, to improve overall health, and to manage stress. Walking is such a basic, everyday movement, and when you improve the quality of how you walk, you’ll improve the quality of your life.

The 8-week session starts on May 22!  Have you ever wanted to run but didn’t think you could? Or maybe you want to be able walk for as long as you like!! Now you can with our Injury Free 5K Program. In a matter of 8 weeks you will be running (or walking) across the finish line. Join 15 year ChiRunning Master Trainer, Vince Vaccaro lead you through an 8 week No Pain? All Gain! Injury Free 5K Program.  

Class meets once a week; you will be given additional workouts to be completed on your own and instructor will provide check in & tracking.

Cost includes entry into The Tunnel To Towers 5K Run & Walk on Saturday, July 13, 2019 in Schouler Park. See details

Class will meet in the North Conway Community Room located on the 2nd floor of the Outpatient Physical Therapy Room. Class will gradually move outside to trail and pavement. Why ChiRunning? Simle, it's injury-free and pain-free. ChiRunning is based on movement principles of T’ai Chi, but you don’t need to know T’ai Chi to ChiRun. All you need to know is how using your core can transform your running.

Chi (pronounced "chee") is the energy that unites body, mind, and spirit.Energy moves from your core (also known as your “center” or “dantien”) into the limbs to create movement.

Engaging your core and relaxing your limbs allows your legs to simply support your body weight instead of pushing or pulling it forward.

When your structure is aligned and your muscles and joints are relaxed, chi can flow freely through the body, making running feel effortless

100 Days of Wellness Challenge MWV

The 100 Days of Wellness Challenge was designed to encourage activity and exercise through accountability and community! The challenge is a collaborative action plan developed by Memorial Hospital Let’s Go! Small Steps Initiative to coincide with the Age-Friendly Initiative with The Gibson Centerfor Senior Services. This challenge is open to everyone—we welcome kids, teens, families and seniors.

The 100 Day Wellness Challenge will help you develop and maintain healthy habits and overall well-being. These activities will engage you and inspire you to become happier, healthier and more energetic.

Download the Challenge Toolkit here or pick up a hardcopy version at one of our local community partners; The Gibson Center or Conway Public Libary.

**Please check back for toolkit. It will available for download by end of April**

* Track your daily wellness activities and include at least one bonus activity per week to accumulate points to win amazing prizes (prizes listed in toolkit)
* Use the different wellness activities to create long term healthy habits from each of the four (4) wellness pillars: Move More, Eat Real, Drink Water and Sleep.
* Consider liking 100 Day Wellness Challenge MWV on Facebook.

This is not a requirement but is strongly encouraged. Motivating your friends and co-workers is also highly encouraged! Begin tracking on May 13, 2019. 

To complete the Wellness Challenge and be entered into the raffle for a chance to win great prizes, you should complete the following by August 20, 2019:

1. Complete registration.

2. Submit your weekly sheets every Monday during the challenge period. Challenge sheets are confidential and not shared. Weekly points can be submitted online or in-person at The Gibson Center.

Winners will be announced at the challenge wrap up event.

Matter of Balance

Please join Matter of Balance Coaches Dawna Houk and Janice Andrews in this life changing class!

Many older adults experience a fear of falling. People who develop this fear often limit their activities, which can result in physical weakness, making the risk of falling even greater. A Matter of Balance is a program designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults. It includes 8 two-hour sessions for a small group of 8-12 participants led by a trained facilitator. This nationally recognized program was developed at the Roybal Center at Boston University.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The program is designed to benefit older adults who:

* Are concerned about falls

* Have sustained falls in the past

* Restrict activities because of concerns about falling

* Are interested in improving flexibility, balance and strength

* Are age 60 or older, community-dwelling and able to problem solve

Journey Church,

CLASS RUNS on Tuesdays from June 4 - July 23 

Classes will be held from 10-12pm, once a week for 8 weeks.
